Whether you were born and raised here, are a longtime transplant, a snowbird, or a vacationer just passing through- everyone mingles over a cold drink at the end of a hot day. Here, shooting the breeze is a national pastime. Placencians of all types enjoy striking up a friendly conversation with the barstool next to them. These are my favorite places to gab and glug in Placencia:
Pickled Parrot
Two friendly dogs and a gregarious bartender always greet you at the Pickled Parrot. If you’re looking for a sports game on tv or a turkey club with a side of chit chat, pop in here. Next to the elementary school, you can send the kids to the playground while you kick back for a bit and they’ll be within easy shouting range. (if you haven’t already subscribed to this blog, sign up for more stellar parenting advice haha!)
Bubu Wuba
On Harbor Place North, you can reach Bubu Wuba by road or pull your boat up to their dock. Recently expanded with ample seating and occasional live music, Bubu Wuba’s typically has a decent crowd of loyal patrons as well as a revolving door of vacationers.
Yoli’s
The only over-the-water bar in the village. Yoli’s is popular with boaters and the snowbird set. Linger on a Sunday afternoon over some BBQ and catch up on the village gossip.
Placencia Beach Club
The only public-access pool bar in Placencia. Many expat retirees are members here and enjoy catching up with one another while beating the heat with a cold (draft!) beer and a swim. Also a great place for families to meet up for a play date.
Barefoot
I love the vibe at Barefoot as it’s almost always an equal mix of locals and visitors. It is the quintessential beach bar- colorful in appearance and character, laid back and fun. This is a place to chat with old friends and make new ones… as long as you can hear one another over the music.
Toucan Jack’s
A relative newcomer, but Toucan Jacks is quickly becoming the popular place to linger over some afternoon cocktails, gaze out at the sea, and prattle with Placencia peeps. Need a nibble? Their wings and poppers are on point!

What are your favorite watering holes in Placencia? Let me know in the comments!
You crack me up! You forgot to mention that if you happen to unknowingly drop your wallet at Barefoot, little people might just find it and return it to you! Bonus!

We have visited all of them and they are our favorites in Placencia!
I know! People always ask “whats your favorite” but I have a dozen favorites- Placencia has too many great spots and good people
