I’ve visited and written many times before about Mayflower Bocawina National Park in the Stann Creek District of Belize, easily reached from the popular tourist destinations of Placencia or Hopkins. The park is one of my favorites- tons of great trails and waterfalls, unexcavated ruins, and on-site activities like rappelling and ziplining.

Read my previous posts on the best hike in Southern Belize or the waterfall rappelling.

Our friends were itching for an adventure off the peninsula the other weekend so we zipped out to Bocawina for a little ziplining. Well, a lot of ziplining actually: 9 separate runs, making it the longest course in the country.

After gearing up, your group takes a short walk to a staging area where your guides give a demonstration and safety talk.

Then it’s a quick hike up… because you have to go up if you want to zip down. It took our group of 3 adults and 3 kids about 90 minutes to complete the course. When you finish you can freshen up in the bathrooms, have lunch at the onsite restaurant Mama Noots, take a hike, or play on the swings and tire zip.
