Whooooo boy! The beach has provided some treasures for me. I love a good beachcombing session. What wonders will you find? An interesting shell, a beautiful piece of polished sea glass, a battered and barnacle encrusted buoy? PRIZES! I (owner of a guesthouse named Driftwood Gardens) feel like I’ve won the ocean lottery this weekend with the riches that have washed ashore for me to find.
I added two interesting pieces of driftwood to my garden collection and I’m downright delighted with myself. My husband doesn’t share the same passion for scouring the seaside as I do but he’s usually (reluctantly?) agreeable to lending some muscle to the cause of dragging home a new beach find. I called him Saturday morning to bring our wagon down to the beach so I could collect this super cool bit of an old boat.

How fantastic is this?! The tip of an old wooden dory that looks like it has spent a good long time on the ocean floor. I pack-mulled it halfway home before calling on the hubs again for help… and here it is in the garden. Do you like it standing up or should I lay it down and have some plants spilling out of it?
My other find was FAR too large to wagon even with Phil’s help. This log has been haunting me for weeks, since I first saw it. I’ve been pining for this behemoth but how could I get it home?!

What’s this?! Rent a front-loader! Right on the road leading to the log’s beach…fate I think. Getter done!
Perfecto Choc at the controls for the driftwood extraction. (message him on Facebook to rent this machine)
A quick ride down the road to my house and ::plop:: I have my masterpiece. I’m not sure if I want it laying down as a bench or standing tall and proud. What do you think?
