Christmas week continues with more merriment along the peninsula. Today we helped decorate this massive gingerbread house at Itz’ana Resort. Everyone seemed to be eating more candy than they were placing but what fun! Decorating gingerbread is a holiday tradition I remember fondly from my childhood but have never attempted here in Belize for Mitch. Heat and humidity don’t really jive with gingerbread construction. I was especially glad to be doing this anywhere else but at my house because I can just imagine how this will drawl the ants, oh my gosh. I don’t know how long this masterpiece will last but it was a blast to make. Leave it to Itz’ana to not only attempt this feat but do it BIG!
When we’d used up most of the frosting, I took the kids down to the beach for a quick run around to burn off some of the sugar high before heading home. It looked like loads of vacationers were enjoying themselves around the pool and paddle boarding on the flat sea. Itz’ana is a lovely resort; very thoughtfully designed and decorated to offer maximum comfort. I always want to take a million pictures while I’m here! Check out these previous posts about Itz’ana: Biblio Bar at Itz’ana, pizza by the pool, and raising the bar in hospitality. I follow them on Facebook to stalk their special events, look at what else they have planned this week:
Tonight we will be joining the festivities along the sidewalk- the Tipsy Strip- for Christmas carol karaoke and raffles. The block party begins at 5; see you there!
