It’s back, baby! Lobsterfest! After a 2 year hiatus, Belize’s Lobsterfests are back in 2022. Caye Caulker’s Lobsterfest will be July 1-3, San Pedro’s Lobsterfest will be 1-9, and Placencia’s Lobsterfest has just been confirmed for July 15-17. Whoop whoop, I’m so excited! I attended a meeting last night for the planning committee, a joint effort between the Village Council, the BTIA, and community volunteers. The scope of this project is HUGE and the committee is starting with a budget of $0 BUT this is a talented team who has been pulling off this event for years and is determined to deliver the top-notch festival that people have come to anticipate from Placencia.
Placencia Lobsterfest will be held on the beach and boardwalk down at the Pointe (next to the municipal pier). A schedule of events and list of entertainers is in the works but here’s roughly what you can expect:
Friday, July 15
An easy opening to Lobsterfest Weekend, there won’t be any official events on the fairgrounds but local hotels, bars, and restaurants will be hosting their own events and promotions.
Saturday, July 16
The main event. All day DJs, the Village Council beer tents and bars will be open early and operate late, bounce houses and amusements for the kids, tons of exhibitors to shop, and more food than you could possibly want. Live band and dance party until late; stay tuned for who they announce as the headliners.
Sunday, July 17
More swimming, dancing, eating, fun. Rotary’s rubber duck race.
