I’ve written about Patricia Ramirez of Splash Dive Center here before and about her regional running club for budding young athletes. The Placencia Peninsula Track Club has been busy with races both at home and abroad, representing Belize in international track and field events as well as competing locally for fun and fitness. A lot of time and expense goes in to the running club- coaches, transportation, race entry fees, and much much more. I know from years of experience that participating in sports isn’t necessarily cheap but Patty never discourages an athlete from chasing their dreams regardless of their family’s means. She estimates the club costs about $60,000 bzd annually to operate and while we have generous donors on the peninsula sponsoring runners or contributing to events, I know Patty shells out a majority of that herself.
In an effort to garner contributions to the ongoing operation of Track Club, Patty has introduced Arrecife, a line of handmade retail products that will benefit our young athletes. Arrecife debuts with customizable, resin monogram keychains. Too pretty to hide inside your bag, I see these as flair to show off on the outside of your purse or backpack or diaper bag. How nice of a gift would this make for someone moving in to a new home or a young driver that’s just earned their license? So chic and trendy, it’s inspired me to do my first (and maybe only) un-boxing video on YouTube! I hope I can #influence you all to get your own Arrecife product- available for immediate purchase at Splash Dive Center and SUNOVA Beach gift shop on the Tipsy Strip.
Great first live blog. Love those key chains. I will be making a purchase or two or three when I return. As your mother, I would be happy to receive that adorable little bag!
