Traditionally, Belize’s “high season” for tourism is December through March and the “low season” or “slow season” is June through October. August and September are the months that we see our fewest international guests and this, in my opinion, is the best time for locals to do their explorations and vacations around Belize. In addition to fun and festive local celebrations, many resorts have awesome discounts for locals during these slower months. Who couldn’t use a little getaway right now, and who doesn’t love a good deal?! Here are some of the best local travel deals around the country to jump on right now.
Alaia Belize by Marriot Autograph Collection, San Pedro
Number one on my list is the huge new luxury resort property, Alaia, on Ambergris Caye. This place looks incredible and I’m so curious to see it! The last time we were out on AC was six years ago and this place was under construction, but now it’s like its own self-contained community within the greater sphere of Belize’s number one vacation destination and resort town of San Pedro. This isn’t your typical Belize resort… not by a long shot! This mega complex is a collection of 155 chic guest rooms, four international restaurants, four cocktail bars, an onsite PADI dive shop and three pools including Belize’s first-ever suspended rooftop pool and lounge with 360-degree views!

I mean, like, shut up! This place is too much! I’ve been wanting to revisit San Pedro for ages and Alaia looks like the most luxurious base camp I could imagine doing it from. Swoon! Look at these common areas and the gym and the restaurants- so gorgeous!

They’re running a staycation promotion for Belizean nationals and residents now through December 2024 of 25% off their best available rates. So the promotion runs for a good long while but the best rates you’ll find are right now, during summer. You also get 10% off food and beverages in any of the resorts bars and restaurants and 15% off spa treatments.

The Lodge at Chaa Creek
You know I love the Cayo district; there’s just so much to explore. Chaa Creek has been on my wish list for awhile (Chaa Creek, Hidden Valley, and Table Rock Jungle Lodge are all on my list and Table Rock happens to also have a last minute booking deal- 50% off in September and you don’t even need to prove residency) and it just seems like the place keeps getting better and better. I need a good couple of nights here to do all the hiking trails (some 10 miles through their 400+acre reserve!), garden and medicinal plant tour, butterfly exhibit, and more. Belizean residents enjoy a 50% discount through December 19th.

Itz’ana Resort, Placencia
Okay, I’m not going to staycation right up the road from my house, but if I were going to it would definitely be at Itz’ana- my favorite resort on the peninsula. I just love all they do here! The décor and service and onsite activities/ entertainment- real attention to detail and top notch guest experience. They’re offering Belizeans 45% off accommodation and 10% activities and events through November 15th. Locals can also just play at resort life with a day pass for only $20bz.

Coppola Family Hideaways- Turtle Inn, Blancaneaux, La Lancha
Last year we took advantage of Blancaneaux’s off-season/ local’s discount and had an amazing adventure out in Mountain Pine Ridge at the gorgeous lodge- read about it here. Blancaneaux is sorta magical and if you’ve never done Caracol then you should take a weekend to stay out there and tour not only the temples but the caves and rivers. Both Blancaneaux and Turtle Inn are offering locals 50% off their bookings, now through November 15th, and La Lancha just over the border in Guatemala is giving Belizeans 30% off. How phenomenal is that?! La Lancha is on my wish list; its on the lake at Lago Petén Itzá, close to Tikal, and it looks absolutely stunning. We passed the shores by boat when we took a trip over to Flores and I wish we could have popped in to see it in person.
