I was headed down to the pointe (the stretch of beach down by the municipal pier that is always clean and calm because it’s just a bit sheltered from the open sea currents, this is a popular weekend hang-out spot and Mitch can always find a dozen other kids swimming down there to play with) for some Saturday fun in the sun and I noticed a sandwich board sitting out front of the new Tiburon Rum Shop. They’ve been renovating this building for several months and I didn’t expect to see it open until closer to December but viola: the board was beckoning me to drop in for a sample.

Okay they aren’t finished with their work but it’s looking so cute in here! Adrian, the nice young man behind the bar, told me this is their soft opening period and they have just their rum on offer at the moment but more merchandise is forthcoming. T-shirts, hats, rash guards; a proper gift shop, plus a bit of seating to entice people to linger over some of Tiburon’s original rum drink recipes.

Cute place! Find it on the main road near Placencia Office Supply. You can make your own miniature bar crawl by combining a stop in to Tiburon and a drop in to the Little Wine Bar a few doors down. Or perhaps date night is a co-ed dinner followed by ladies wine-ing at TLWB and the guys having a rum on the rocks at Tiburon? How fun would that be?!
Another neat addition to this funky beach town!
